Shout Out Tags

Students will receive Brag Tags for many reasons this year including, perfect attendance, academics, Class Dojo (see below), STEM activities, and for a variety of other reasons.  Brag Tags will remain at school until the end of the school year.  You are welcome to make an appointment to stop by with your student so they can show you the Brag Tags they've earned.

Rewards and Consequences

Class Dojo

I will be using Class Dojo as my main behavior system in the classroom.  Students will earn points by following our classroom rules, and showing their Bronco PRIDE.  Points will be awarded for individuals, and for teams.   You will receive an invitation to connect with me on Class Dojo - there you can see the points your child has earned, or has lost.

Rewards

Students will earn Shout Out Tags as they earn Dojo Points while we Race to 1,000!  These will be handed out only on Monday morning.  If a student reaches the next level on Tuesday, they will need to wait till the following Monday to collect their new Brag Tag.

Bench Slips and Behavior Tickets:

Occasionally a student needs a little more of a reminder than losing Dojo Points.  If that happens, your student may end up sitting on the bench for a recess.  I will be contacting you via phone or email if this happens.
If your child is having a particularly tough day with regards to behavior, they may end up receiving a behavior ticket.  If this happens, someone from our Behavior Team will be calling you.

Pencils

This year students will be participating in The Great Pencil Challenge.  The challenge is for the students not to lose their pencils!

I have supplied each student with a travel toothbrush container (called a  Pencil Pod) that holds four pencils.

If a student needs pencils sharpened, they must turn in their Pencil Pod to me at the end of the day.  I will sharpen their pencils, and return their Pencil Pod to their desk before the following school day.

On Friday afternoon, all students must turn in their Pencil Pods, with all four pencils inside.  I will sharpen their pencils and replace missing pencils, and pencils that are just too short.

Students who turn in their Pencil Pods, complete with all four pencils, for a month will receive a special Brag Tag and be recognized in front of the class.  Students who lost track of their pencils can try again the following month.
